Let's Adopt a Family as a Community!

I'm a huge fan of Simone Gordon, also known as the Black Fairy Godmother on Instagram as part of my anti-racism work, and I've been following and learning from her for some time.

She helps Black and Brown families, often with special needs kids like her own, pick up the pieces after a challenging time.

It’s important to note, if you’re new to anti-racism work, that Black and Brown families have extra hurdles in accessing and receiving help.

Once per month, I go to her Instagram account @BlackFairyGodmother and pick a family needing emergency supplies with a simple click of the "buy button" from their Amazon wishlist.

I volunteered to fill the Holiday Wishlist for a family of three for the winter holidays.

If you'd like to join me, here's the deal:

  1. FYI - The children are black and brown children.

  2. Each child in the family ideally gets 5 items each

  3. Do not judge the children, their families for what's on their wishlist or send inappropriate emails to me or Simone's team about what the children should have or not have (I know I don't have to tell you this, but it's happened to Simone.)

  4. Let's get this done BEFORE DECEMBER so the packages can arrive in time given all the post office hiccups from this year.

  5. All purchases are off an Amazon Wishlist

Of course, this is optional, but if you'd like to join me in a community project -- there are many different price points -- let's do it!
