Simplify Your Marketing
/Hi Friend!
Did you know that most of my clients fall into one of two categories?
#1 A woman with an existing business that is successful (or somewhat successful), but her practice is keeping her too busy for not enough in return
#2 A woman who wants to start a new business and transition from a successful career into coaching, consulting or private practice
In both cases, they mistakenly THINK they need to do at least SIX THINGS in their marketing.
In the Happy Little Practice Method, I debunk this by simplifying and streamling your marketing habits for greater effectiveness and joy.
We do this by getting wicked good at two things:
1) ONE core outreach strategy
ONE strategy that brings your message to new people and allows you to regularly invite new people to a first appointment.
This can be as simple as talking to humans each and every day, Monday - Friday and sharing what problem you solve and for whom.
And this can be as fancy as giving a signature talk over and over again, about twice per month.
Or something else that suits your natural strengths!
Generally, all outreach marketing fits into one of the following categories - Pick one!
- Speaking to other people's audiences
- Writing and getting published to other people's audiences
- Networking and cultivating referrals by building new, professional relationships
- Joint ventures with others who have an existing network of your ideal clients
- Advertising and public relations and paying/hiring to get in front of your ideal clients
Again, pick one you can tolerate, study it, master it, make it your own, and be so good your ideal clients can't ignore you.
2) ONE core keep in touch strategy
One main strategy that nurtures the relationships you cultivate with your core outreach strategy.
This can be social media (optional), emails to your list of potential clients and/or networking and talking with humans in your own unique way.
You can start with one core outreach strategy, get a handle on it, then add your keep in touch strategy.
Why just two things?
a) It's enough of a challenge to get two things working well
b) Most women I work with do not have time for more without hiring help
c) The science of habit changes shows that humans can focus on rocking out ONE new thing at a time, not two or three or more (at least not without a team)
d) The Happy Little Practice Method operates on a 25-hour work week (school hours), so you have about an hour a day, on most days, to get your marketing done. You can only succeed with this by focusing more, not doing more.
How do you choose your TWO THINGS?
You slow down, discern and decide what's most important to you right now and what fits in your life NOW (time, energy, health, stage of life)?
You focus on getting wicked good at one thing at a time, and give yourself the space and time to do so.
You learn to gently manage your mind, mood and focus on seeing it through.
Zig where others zag.
You can win the game of rocking out your tiny but mighty businesses by out-focusing others, not by outworking others.
When your business is ready to add more marketing than what I've outlined, you're usually ready for an assistant who can take on some or all of the work.
