Reuse and Repurpose During Your Busy Season
/I'm about to take a little summer holiday and if you're like me and my clients, inspiration and focus may be at an all-time low right now.
It happens!
Between summer holidays, family visits, extra activities or just trying to make the most of outdoor fun, it can feel impossible to focus.
Don't worry, I've got you!
Try this:
1. Set aside an hour, grab a brisk and refreshing icy cold beverage and go through your past content and look for your "best of."
Content can be email newsletters you've written, videos, social media posts or a snippet from a book or product you created.
2. Pick your favorites or the ones that had the most open rate or comments, and plan to reshare them.
Yes, you can reshare previously shared content.
It's an essential strategy for a company of one.
Besides, most people will only see 20% of your stuff anyway.
3. Then make a plan for how you'll schedule and send the "best of", one at a time.
You may need only two if you write two emails a month to your email list.
Use this strategy to take you all the way through to when your kids are back in school, or when you are back from travel or recovered from busy times.
Bonus points if you introduce the tip with a friendly note of why you're resharing (like "hey, I need a summer break!" or "this was a personal favorite!"), but that's optional.
In Happy Little Practice we call this repurposing your content.
We do this when life hits us hard, when holiday fuzz gets hold of our brain or when we are in a busy season.
You really don't need a reason!
I do this a few times per year.
Plan ahead for your "busy" or "can't adult" seasons and you can leverage the power of repurposing again and again.
This will prevent that "oh! I need to catch up" feeling in business and prevents the feast or famine in your client attraction.
I'll start!
The following is something I shared in the new year of 2022.
The new year, much like summertime, is also a time when women business owners need a little extra juice in the tank.
I also remember receiving a moving email from a reader saying how helpful this short series of insights was to her.
So if you would like more, here are a few snippets of inspiration and focus for your business and you.
What if you don’t have much content to repurpose?
Pro Tip 1 for New in Business Pros: Don’t have much past content? No problem. Set aside the same time and decide to “batch create” short and sweet content, schedule it and go.
Pro Tip 2 for New in Business Pros: Or, you can do this without creating new content by what we nerdy marketing people call curating content and sharing that. Here is what a curated newsletter is. And here is one of my favorite curated newsletters that I read from time to time (click on one to see an example. You can simply share ONE piece vs a variety of pieces of content per communication.) And here is another curated newsletter that I like (again, you don’t have to do it like them, one piece of curated content would be enough to start with - be it for social platform, an email newsletter, etc.)
